...quietly back.
i really hate to go to the beach. since it was father's day weekend i thought i'd give in.
check out my two shark baits...they are so white. it was a treat because this is only the fourth time babybug has been to the beach. we live WHERE?! i know, i know...hmpf!
on the way home we bought husband's favorite crab poke. i usually don't eat it. the salty air must have put me in the mood today.
we got home and i checked the mail. happy mail from kirsten arrived today.
kirsten, you got three "wows" from husband. "wow, she has nice handwriting...wow, those are nice magnets...wow, that's a nice photo (of the kids)". i love the magnets and the map fabric! my father was actually going to name me toby if i was a boy! thank you :)
two weeks ago i officially cut babybug's hair for the first time. i cut a good inch off the ends so her hair is all one length. about a year ago my hair stylist trimmed it sparsely. a tiny tiny bit, only about an eighth of an inch. for almost three years i've been getting warnings from my maternal grandfather and father. husband says it's up to me but drops hints that maybe i shouldn't. i think long hair is totally a guy thing.
i have more of a problem with bangs then the actual length of the hair. my friend J told me that she could never handle babybug's hair on her daughter B. she went on about how hot...sticky...itchy...how the hair would practically blind B (on the left). i felt a little hurt but don't think she meant it. she is probably right. i'm just traumatized from those big THICK bangs. the type that start at the complete top of a poor child's head. the thought of ever wanting to grow them out would seem impossible. you see, i had those type of bangs along with the bob cut. husband calls it the he-man hairstyle. remember him? anyway, whenever i look at my old childhood pictures i remember how much i hate bangs. but hey, hair is the personal preference of a mother, especially if she has a girl. so, i hope you're not offended if you like bangs. i'm just weird about somethings :)
the down side of NO bangs is this. her hair gets all over the place. the little bug gets frustrated at me when i forget to put her hair in a ponytail at bedtime. she really does wake up looking like this.
fyi, i have no bangs :)
i've finally finished going through the stuff i brought home from japan. i've been debating about putting it on etsy. it simply takes to long to list and upload. some of the stationary goods are listed here. instead, i'll post some of the stuff here on the blog tomorrow. whatever doesn't sell after a few days will go on etsy. there will be japanese fabric and a few craft books. i looked at some of the fabric and books and i couldn't remember why i bought it. or, it didn't appeal to me as much anymore. babybug is going to the sitter tomorrow and i'll have the whole day free.
where have we been? why have i been the worst blogging mama?
last month babybug and i went to visit my dad. it was a last minute trip. just the two of us. husband stayed home to take care of the two dogs, snuggles, birdie and dorothy the goldfish. it was a nine hour flight to osaka with a three hour lay over at kansai airport. an interesting fact, it's a man-made island. then another two hour flight to okinawa. it was the fifth time i've done the trip. past four times was with husband. traveling with a toddler, gawd, is a whole different experience. remind me not to do it again...alone with babybug. we'll just pay someone to take care of the animals next time.
here she is stretching her legs at kansai. we were looking at this...
i'm working on my flickr account with more pictures. might take a while though.
you ask, WHERE'S THE FABRIC?!!! you know i went crazy! two boxes arrived safe but were already sold before they arrived home. for just two days i listed some fabric on etsy while in japan. at least those made it in my hands so i could complete orders. the last four boxes are missing. these were for me, all me! i'm absolutely positive customs has them hostage. i should have carried the treasures home in my luggage. my father convinced me to send it home because my suitcases would be too heavy. i have actually been very depressed the past week. not being melodramatic! japanese fabric can do that to you.
